A LG Electronics Inc. (LG) anunciou receitas recorde consolidadas no terceiro trimestre de 15,7 triliões de wons coreanos (equivalentes a 13,15 mil milhões de dólares americanos) e um lucro operacional de 781,4 mil milhões de wons coreanos (o que corresponde a   654,4 milhões de dólares americanos) no período de julho a setembro de 2019. As vendas aumentaram 1,8% e o lucro operacional cresceu 4,4% em comparação com o mesmo período do ano passado, principalmente devido ao forte desempenho das unidades de negócios de Home Appliances, Home Entertainment e Business Solutions, enquanto as perdas nas comunicações móveis diminuíram no trimestre.

A LG Home Appliance & Air Solution Company registou as suas vendas mais altas num terceiro trimestre, com 5,33 triliões de wons coreanos (equivalentes a 4,46 mil milhões de dólares americanos), tendo aumentando quase 10% em relação ao período homólogo de 2018, graças ao forte desempenho desta unidade de negócio na América do Norte, Europa, Ásia e Médio Oriente. O lucro operacional de 428,9 mil milhões de wons coreanos (que equivalem a 359,2 milhões de dólares americanos) representou um aumento de 3,8% em relação ao terceiro trimestre do ano passado devido a uma combinação de melhorias nas vendas, redução contínua de custos e preços mais baixos de matérias-primas.

A LG Home Entertainment Company registou receitas trimestrais de 3,87 triliões de wons coreanos (correspondentes a 3,24 mil milhões de dólares americanos), o que representa um aumento de 3,5% em relação ao período de 2018, refletindo as fortes vendas desta unidade de negócio na América Latina e no Médio Oriente. Embora o lucro operacional de 318 mil milhões de wons coreanos (266,3 milhões de dólares americanos) tenha diminuído ligeiramente em relação ao ano anterior, devido à forte concorrência no mercado e a uma taxa de câmbio mais fraca, as fortes vendas de produtos premium, como TVs OLED, resultaram numa saudável margem operacional trimestral de 8,2%.

A LG Mobile Communications Company registou vendas de 1,52 triliões de wons coreanos (1,27 mil milhões de dólares) no trimestre num mercado global de smartphones desafiante. Em comparação com o trimestre anterior as perdas operacionais diminuíram significativamente para 161,2 mil milhões de wons coreanos (o equivalente a 135 milhões de dólares) devido a uma produção mais eficiente e melhorias ao nível dos custos.

A LG Vehicle Component Solutions Company gerou receitas trimestrais de 1,34 triliões de wons coreanos (correspondentes a 1,12 mil milhões de dólares), o que representa um aumento de 14% em relação ao terceiro trimestre do ano transato, graças ao aumento das vendas de sistemas de entretenimento e lazer. Os custos mais altos de preparação para produção em massa, relacionados com novos projetos, contribuíram para uma perda operacional de 60,1 mil milhões de wons coreanos (equivalentes a 50,3 milhões de dólares americanos) no terceiro trimestre de 2019.

A LG Business Solutions Company registou vendas no terceiro trimestre de 698,7 mil milhões de wons coreanos (que equivalem a 585,2 milhões de dólares americanos), que se traduzem num crescimento de 21,2% em relação ao mesmo trimestre do ano passado, devido a um aumento nas vendas de displays e de módulos solares em mercados importantes. A receita operacional aumentou 90% em relação a 2018, para 66,8 mil milhões de wons coreanos (55,9 milhões de dólares americanos), como resultado de uma melhoria na produtividade e do aumento das vendas.

Os resultados trimestrais não auditados da LG Electronics baseiam-se nos IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) durante o período de três meses que terminou a 30 de setembro de 2019. Os valores em wons coreanos são convertidos em dólares americanos à taxa média do período de três meses do trimestre correspondente – 1.194 wons coreanos por dólar.
