A Comissão Europeia colocou em consulta pública o Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI), uma ferramenta introduzida pela directiva europeia para o desempenho energético dos edifícios e que pretende medir a adequabilidade do edificado à introdução de soluções smart e tecnologias de informação e comunicação (TIC).
Esta consulta pública, que decorre até 3 de Outubro, surge com a finalidade de recolher uma ampla panóplia de opiniões e contributos sobre o SRI, de forma a fornecer os melhores e mais fidedignos dados aos decisores políticos.
O sector da habitação é um dos maiores consumidores de energia da União Europeia. No entanto, e apesar do seu altíssimo consumo, a eficiência é ainda pobre, com 75 % do parque habitacional a ser energicamente ineficiente. Nesse sentido, foi aprovada a Directiva Europeia para o Desempenho Energético dos Edifícios (EPBD, na versão em inglês), que, ao longo dos anos, foi sofrendo várias revisões, até à sua última versão, apresentada em 2018. Foi sob a alçada desta última EPBD que surgiu o SRI, cujo propósito é, no fundo, ler a inteligência dos edifícios, tendo em conta uma verdadeira modernização do parque habitacional da União Europeia.
Recorde-se que a revisão da EPBD obriga os Estados-Membros a adotarem medidas de eficiência energética para irem ao encontro de metas pré-estabelecidas para a energia e clima. Esta directiva, que prevê um reforço da melhoria energética dos edifícios existentes, surge com o objectivo de incentivar à renovação e reabilitação dos imóveis, de forma a atingir a descarbonização de longo prazo, apresentando-se como uma ferramenta decisiva para que as metas de eficiência energética, definidas para 2030 sejam atingidas, e para que, em 2050, toda a União Europeia esteja descarbonizada.
