O ClimACT, projecto português cujo objectivo é avaliar o desempenho ambiental e energético das escolas, foi distinguido em Bruxelas, vencendo a categoria “Juventude”, nos prémios da Semana Europeia para a Energia Sustentável, que acontece entre 17 a 21 de Junho.
O projecto português, constituído por um consórcio de nove entidades europeias, entre elas o Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) e o Instituto de Soldadura e Qualidade, foi um dos 12 finalistas, entre mais de 100 candidaturas, vencendo a distinção na categoria “Juventude”.
“O projecto envolveu medidas estruturais que tiveram a ver com alterações no próprio do edifício das escolas, como a mudança de lâmpadas e do isolamento, mas visou, sobretudo, alterações comportamentais, através de actividades como ir para a escola de bicicleta, plantar árvores e ações de sensibilização na área dos resíduos e da poupança de água e de eletricidade”, sublinhou Marta Almeida, responsável pelo projecto e investigadora do Instituto Superior Técnico, em declarações à Agência Lusa. “É uma vitória para as escolas e para os alunos e uma inspiração para todos”, disse, segundo a mesma fonte.
O ClimACT, financiado pelo programa Interreg (Interreg Sudoe) e liderado pelo IST, surgiu há cerca de três anos, com o objectivo de avaliar o desempenho ambiental de energético de quase quatro dezenas de escolas piloto e de desenvolver ferramentas que apoiem uma mudança de paradigma para uma economia de baixo carbono nas escolas, centrado em quatro eixos principais: criação de ferramentas educacionais, de apoio à decisão, desenvolvimento de novos modelos de negócio e potencialização de uma rede temática “escolas baixo carbono”. Desde então, o projecto tem vindo a crescer, com o desenvolvimento de uma plataforma de correspondência de recursos e uma plataforma educativa, com jogos e cursos de tipo e-learning que podem ser usados pelos professores nas suas aulas. O consórcio do projecto conta ainda com a Edigreen, a ABAE, o CIEMAT, a Universidad de Sevilla, a Université de la Rochelle, a Ville de la Rochelle e a University of Gibraltar.
