A Eurovent – Associação Europeia para a Indústria AVAC recomendou à Comissão Europeia a introdução de limites à concentração de partículas nos sistemas de ventilação.
A recomendação está patente num documento publicado pela associação que tem na qualidade do ar interior (QAI) um dos seus cavalos de batalha. Este documento, que reflecte a posição do organismo acerca da temática, tem o seu foco nas partículas PM, que têm um impacto maior nas pessoas do que qualquer outro poluente. Estas partículas, cujo diminuto diâmetro faz com que possam entrar no aparelho respiratório e na corrente sanguínea, podem levar ao desenvolvimento de várias doenças, respiratórias e não só.
“Desenvolver um regime regulatório em qualidade do ar interior é complexo e nós reconhecemos que não existem balas de prata. No entanto, sem legislação concreta, as necessidades de ar limpo dos ocupantes (…), vão permanecer subvalorizadas”, segundo Jan Andersson, da empresa Camfil, e membro da Eurovent.
Como referido, a qualidade do ar interior sempre foi uma das preocupações da Eurovent, que sempre defendeu uma legislação cada vez mais apertada e exigente em termos de purificação do ar. E, apesar de terem sido introduzidas várias normas e determinações na mais recente directiva em termos de desempenho energético dos edifícios, não existem ainda requisitos concretos, no que à legislação europeia diz respeito, relativamente à qualidade do ar interior. Por isso, Jan Andersson espera que “seja dado um primeiro passo concreto para a introdução de limites a determinadas partículas poluentes. Longe de ser perfeita, esta solução é melhor que a actual. A Eurovent tem, e continua a apoiar, iniciativas, que tornem o sector da construção mais eficiente em termos energéticos, e mais sustentável, mas sem perder de vista a funcionalidade, a saúde e as considerações de segurança”.
