O Eurostat divulgou, no final da semana passada, os resultados do sector da construção na zona Euro e entre os 27 membros da União Europeia (UE). Entre Dezembro de 2019 e Janeiro deste ano, a produção na construção cresceu 3,9 % na UE. Em Portugal, o crescimento foi de 1,3 %, mas a pandemia global do novo coronavírus (covid-19) lança incertezas para o futuro: “já há obras interrompidas e diversas disrupções”, avisa a Confederação Portuguesa da Construção e do Imobiliário (CPCI).
Com os maiores crescimentos a registarem-se na Roménia (+20,9 %), Eslovénia (+10,2 %) e Polónia (+9,3 %), o crescimento da produção na construção cresceu 3,6 % na zona euro e 3,9 % na UE a 27. Em Portugal, o crescimento registado em Janeiro também foi positivo, quando comparado com o mês anterior, tendo subido 1,3 %. Em relação a Janeiro de 2019, a subida em Portugal foi de 0,9 %. Aqui, os crescimentos mais expressivos verificaram-se na Roménia (47,8 %), na Bélgica (12,9 %) e na Alemanha (12 %). Por outro lado, Espanha registou uma descida de 4,4 %.
O relatório do Eurostat, disponível para download, recorda que, no passado mês de Dezembro, o crescimento do sector tinha sido negativo na zona euro e na UE, com quedas de 1,8 % e 1,7 %, respectivamente.
Entre Dezembro e Janeiro, o sector da engenharia civil cresceu 4,7 % na UE a 27, enquanto a construção de edifícios registou uma subida de 3,8 %. Em relação a Janeiro de 2019, o sector da construção civil apresenta um crescimento de 11,5 % e o sector da construção de edifícios subiu 4,9 %. Neste período, a produção na construção cresceu 6 % na zona euro e 6,2 % na UE.
A propagação do novo coronavírus e a declaração da situação de pandemia lançam incertezas na construção, colocando em causa perspectivas de crescimento no sector. Em notícia (artigo com paywall) do Jornal de Negócios, publicada na passada quinta-feira, o presidente da CPCI, Manuel Reis Campos, denuncia já existirem em Portugal “obras que estão a ser interrompidas e diversas disrupções ao longo da cadeia de valor”. A situação actual causa assim preocupação num sector, que, segundo a notícia, emprega 306 mil trabalhadores de forma directa no país e cujos salários e remunerações mensais atingem os 435 milhões de euros, para além dos encargos mensais de financiamento junto da banca, no valor de 58 milhões de euros.
