Cem contadores inteligentes de gás natural já foram instalados na Grande Lisboa, num projecto piloto denominado Smart Metering e que resulta de uma parceria entre a Galp (com a Lisboagás) e a NOS.
De acordo com o comunicado conjunto divulgado pela empresa energética e pela operadora de telecomunicações, esta iniciativa coloca a capital portuguesa na vanguarda da tecnologia do ramo, já que é uma das primeiras cidades europeias a receber contadores inteligentes de gás natural.
Este projecto foi desenvolvido recorrendo à tecnologia NarrowBand-IoT (NB-IoT), que já é suportada pela mais recente geração de contadores, através de plataformas de gestão que são disponibilizadas pela NOS, permitindo a transmissão de dados de forma mais rápida e segura. Com isto, através de comunicação remota, será possível aferir, em tempo real, o verdadeiro consumo de gás, o que será um benefício para o consumidor, visto que este contará, sempre, com o consumo real, evitando o recurso a estimativas.
O projecto Smart Metering enquadra-se na estratégia da GALP, que, em comunicado, revelou que “prevê um roadmap de iniciativas a desenvolver a nível nacional nos próximos meses e que tem como objectivo preparar as infra-estruturas para os desafios da transição energética e assegurar a sua digitalização”.
Para a NOS, este é, igualmente, um projecto que segue a estratégia da transformação digital das principais empresas portuguesas, através de parcerias, permitindo desenvolver e interligar todos os equipamentos através de IoT (Internet of Things).
