A Eurovent lançou quatro recomendações técnicas para a manutenção de sistemas de ventilação durante a pandemia provocada pelo novo coronavírus. Para garantir uma menor concentração de gotículas respiratórias no ar, a associação europeia para a indústria AVAC aconselha o aumento da percentagem de ar exterior nos sistemas de ventilação e a manutenção da humidade interior, acima dos 30 %.
Numa altura em que “nenhuma autoridade lançou orientações” para a operação de sistemas de ventilação mecânica, a Eurovent lançou quatro recomendações, depois de a Associação Portuguesa dos Engenheiros de Frio Industrial e Ar Condicionado (EFRIARC) ter feito recentemente o mesmo. No decorrer do mês de Março, também a Federação Europeia das Associações de Aquecimento, Ventilação e Ar Condicionado (REHVA) lançou um guia para prevenir a propagação do novo coronavírus em edifícios de serviços abertos ao público com sistemas de ventilação.
Apesar de as gotículas respiratórias – responsáveis pela propagação do novo coronavírus – “não permanecerem em suspensão e geralmente aterrarem no chão ou noutras superfícies”, conforme descreve a associação europeia, “não restam dúvidas de que a concentração de gotículas aéreas mais pequenas, que pode conter outros vírus, deve ser reduzida ao máximo”.
Assim, como precaução a adoptar neste período de pandemia, a Eurovent recomenda quatro acções de operação e manutenção para os sistemas de ventilação: o aumento dos níveis de ventilação e da percentagem de ar exterior no sistema; a extensão do tempo de operação dos sistemas de ventilação – tal como havia já recomendado a EFRIARC -; a verificação de que as unidades de ventilação estão devidamente instaladas e mantidas, segundo as instruções do fabricante; e, por último, a manutenção da “humidade relativa interior acima dos 30 %”, onde for possível.
A associação europeia para a indústria AVAC lembra, na sua recomendação, que “não existe actualmente evidência de que o novo coronavírus possa propagar-se através dos sistemas de ventilação ou ar condicionado”. A Eurovent compromete-se a actualizar as suas recomendações à medida que mais informação “de confiança” sobre a doença e o modo como esta se propaga esteja disponível.
Recorde-se que, na passada semana, a Eurovent e a REHVA apelaram às instituições europeias, nacionais e regionais para que as acções de produção, distribuição e manutenção da indústria AVAC-R fossem incluídas na lista de serviços essenciais durante a pandemia de covid-19.
